March 2014 Metting – Blue Ox RV, Albany, Oregon

Meeting opened by Vice President Corrine Christensen at 10:15 am March 22, 2014

Roll Call:  Suzan Aufereth, Russ and Helen Case, Paul and Corrine Christensen, Ivan and Sonja Kibler, Lloyd and Jeanne Komlofske, Marvin and Karen LaVoie, Eldon Propst, Chester and Linda Wells, and Julie Wiskow.

Corrine welcomed the members, particularly Eldon, Julie and Suzan, who were drive ins.  She then thanked the men for making such a great breakfast and they all got a standing ovation.

Good of the Order:  Suzan talked to Pat Hoffman and she stated that Bryan is not drinkng enough (water that is).  Since they lost their son and have been travelling to the Seatle area, Bryan has not been taking good care of himself and he may be back in the hospital.  Our thoughts and prayers go out to them.  We were glad to see Julie and Eldon and offer our sympathy in the loss of their spouses.

Wagon Master.  Next month is state and May is Wapiti. Bobbie sent an e-mail and said everything was set for this year except the November meeting.  Due to her family problems she asked to have someone take over the wagon mater duties and Suzan said she would do it.  There is some question about going back to the Premier RV in November, and the Phoenex RV in Salem will not take motor homes that are over 10 years old.  Suzan will look into getting the November meeting set up.  She also stated that if you have not sent your check in for the April meeting she would take them.

Old Business:  There was a discussion about the Chapter of Excellence award.  Seems no one’s particulary interested in receiving another pin or cast iron sign so the president may not submit an application this year.

New business:  Be sure to bring your rally pin designs to the State meeting in April.  The theme for this year is  “Rockin’ Rodeo”.

We will have birthday cake at 1 PM and pot luck at 6:00.

Breakfast in the morning.

WINNIE’GONIANS MINUTES

FEBRUARY 22, 2014

The meeting was called to order at 12:02 pm by President Bryan Hoffman at the Francis Xavier’s Restaurant in Portland, OR.

ROLL CALL:  In attendance were members Pete and Loretta Frye, Bryan and Pat Hoffman, Ivan and Sonja Kibler, Marv and Karen LaVoie, Vern Spenst and Dee Parker, Chester and Linda Wells, honorary members Dewey and Kathy Minger and guest Michael Hoffman.

FEBRUARY MINUTES:  It was moved by Ivan Kibler and seconded by Linda Wells that we accept the minutes as sent out.

FEBRUARY TREASURER’S REPORT:  Treasurer Suzan AuFeroth reported that the treasury is the same as last month, $950.87.

BIRTHDAYS:  February 2nd Jack Lindsay, February 10th Vic Moore, February 14th Sonja Kibler, and February 17th Audrie Bettendorf.

ANNIVERSARIES:  February 16th Vern and Audrie Bettendorf and also on February 16th Hal and Joyce Pawson.

SUNSHINE REPORT:  Bryan gave a short overview of what he has been going through over the past three months.  Chester Wells and his wife Linda were in Mexico having a wonderful time by the ocean when Chester became ill.  He ended up being the only patient in a 14 room hospital to have his gallbladder removed.  He also was suffering from Dengue Fever which you get from mosquitoes, jaundice and more.  Linda, after great effort, was able to get their travel insurance company to send a small jet to transport the two of them and their cats to San Antonio, TX where he received further treatment before being released to return home.  The insurance company also hired someone to drive their motor home back home for them.  He was not a great driver and they are in the process of getting their motor home repaired and ready to go again.  Ivan Kibler had some heart problems in December, which required surgery.  He is doing well and looks great.  Bryan talked with Doris Hammond and Gene has some more tests that seemed to have more positive results. They are planning on coming to the March campout.  Gene Wiskow’s lung condition is worsening and he is on oxygen most if not all of the time.  Loretta Frye reported that she talked with Jack Lindsay regarding their son who lives in Bend and is fighting melanoma cancer.  She said that he is walking a little better as the blood clots are gone.  His latest reports were not good, but better than before.  Bobbie is in Bend with him now.  They are hoping to bring him to Portland soon for further treatment.  We also lost our dear, long-time member Donna Probst who passed away in February.

CORRESPONDENCE:  Hal and Joyce Pawson took the food that was donated at the Christmas party to SnoCap and we received a very nice letter thanking us for the donation.

WAGON MASTER’S REPORT:  Since Bobbie was unable to attend the meeting, Bryan and Pat Hoffman took over planning the March campout.  It will be March 20th thru the 23rd at Blue Ox RV Park in Albany, OR.  We do not have to pay ahead as they will collect when we register.  Be sure to let Bobbie Lindsay know if you are planning on attending as currently there are only 8 spaces reserved.  Since this is the first campout without hosts doing all of the meals, Bryan and Pat have taken over hosting responsibilities to plan for the weekend.  Thursday we will go out the Novaks Hungarian restaurant for dinner, planning on leaving the campground at 4:30 pm.  On Friday we will go to the Chinese restaurant right up the street from the campground that we have gone to many times before.  We will also plan on leaving the campground at 4:30 pm.  Bryan feels that getting an early start gives the restaurant less stress over the rush hour dinner hour and also we will get back to the campground in time to play games.

The new system will go as follows:  Saturday the men will cook breakfast starting at 8:15 am with breakfast to be served at 9:00 am.  The chapter will furnish the pancake flour for pancakes and each coach is responsible to bring either eggs or a meat to add to the breakfast.  The guys will cook whatever is donated to the meal.  Saturday night is potluck with Birthday/Anniversary cake and will be served at 6:00 pm.  Sunday is Continental Breakfast.  Each coach donates something to be added to the breakfast that does not require preparation; i.e:  fruit, sweet rolls or whatever you think would go well with the meal.  This meal will be served potluck style.

OLD BUSINESS:  There was no old business.

NEW BUSINESS:  Bryan reminded us that it was time to start thinking about the 2014 OTWI State Rally, “Rockin’ Rodeo.”  Be thinking about pin designs as the April State meeting is when they will select the design for this year’s pin.  The April campout will be held in conjunction with the state meeting at Hee Hee Illahee, in Salem, OR, April 10th to 13th.

BONER AWARD:  Since Bobbie Lindsay was not able to attend this meeting she mailed the Boner Award to Bryan.  Nobody seemed to have a new recipient in mind, so it was decided to hold off until the March campout.

GOOD OF THE ORDER:  Bryan asked if someone would volunteer to take the club boxes to the March meeting in the event he is unable to do so.  Chester and Linda Wells volunteered.  Pat Hoffman also wanted everyone to know that Bob and Pat Baldridge’s daughter passed away in December.

The meeting was adjourned at 1:05 pm.

Respectfully submitted,

Pat Hoffman, Secretary

Wagon Master:  September is at Rally.  October is at Casey’s RV and we are hosts for the state meeting.  November is at Premier RV in Salem for the Thanksgiving feast.  Corrine asked for suggestions for the meal at the October meeting.  It was suggested that we do something along the lines of Oktoberfest.  Loretta suggested sauerkraut and sausage with potatoes.  There were some who did not want the sauerkraut so they should make them separate.  For breakfast it was suggested to have French toast and sausage with fruit and juice, with a continental breakfast on Sunday morning.  Things to be finalized in September.

Old business:  Corrine went over some items for the new members.  She explained that name badges were to be worn starting on Friday morning until leaving on Sunday. The money from the fines goes into the treasury for supporting the Sunshine committee, for sending out birthday and anniversary cards.  There was a long discussion of hosts for the camp outs.  Paul read the monthly host duties which include making arrangements for dinner on Friday, Saturday breakfast and Sunday continental breakfast.  We will not have a host, but if someone wants to arrange something in their area they can.  Corrine thanked Lloyd and Jeanie for hosting this weekend.

A recommendation was made that we wear something appropriate for the Halloween/Oktoberfest meeting.  If you have something appropriate you should wear it.

Saturday lunch at the rally will be red beans and rice.  Some members have already cooked and frozen the rice.  Gene and Julie will arrange the lunch but will need help.  Marianne suggested that she put the program on the web site so people will know what to expect.  Suzan is making up the Friday get to know you list and she needs to know who is coming to the Rally.  Suzan also asked that anyone going to Rally on Tuesday could help her with decorating the hall.

Loretta reminded everyone to bring a dozen cookies to Rally.  For the Red Hat tea, everyone is to bring 18 scones, tea, jelly or jam, butter, tea cups, red hat decorations.  There will be a quilt show, so bring a quilt; you do not have to make it.  Let Loretta know what you will bring.

Corrine will need help for scoring the parade of games.  She will need at least ten score keepers.   The theme this year is Mardi gras so we will dress up on Saturday night.  There was a discussion of the way Oregon selects the teams for baseball.

New Business:  The nominating committee (Bobbie and Corrine) made the following report:  President – Bryan Hoffman, 1st Vice – Corrine Christensen, 2nd Vice – Karen LaVoie, Secretary – Pat Hoffman, Treasurer – Suzan AuFeroth, and Wagon Master – Bobbie Lindsay.

There was a discussion about the meals for the rest of the campout.  Loretta said that she had a cake for the birthday/anniversary celebration and would bring it tonight.

Boner Award:  Sonja was the proud possessor of the boner.  She presented it to Ivan and Lloyd explained the reason.  It seems he left his phone at the Elks after dinner.  Someone found it and as Lloyd was still there and Sonja’s photo was on it he brought it back to camp.  Sonja said she just put it in the motor home and Ivan did not even miss it.

Meeting adjourned at 10:55
